What Is Servant Leadership?
- A servant leader is one who leads by serving others.
- The servant leader gets things done by serving others.
- The servant leader serves others by empowering them to use their talents to accomplish common goals while they are meeting their needs and growing as unique human beings.
Our Mission
The mission of SL.org, is to provide servant
leadership skill development materials and services.
Our Vision
The customers of SL.org will be serving others in their
homes, work, churches, and communities and the people
served will become servant leaders themselves.
Servant Leadership Values & Beliefs
The values and beliefs below, which can also be called principles, can serve as the foundation for the characteristics and behaviors of a servant leader. These beliefs have their origin in the Bible and from the research findings of the behavioral sciences.
- The two great commandments direct us to love God and our neighbor as yourself.
- We are to place the needs of others above our needs. We are other focused.
- We are to treat each person with dignity because she or he is created by God and has worth.
- We are to help each person meet his or her needs and goals.
- We are to help each person develop and use her or his unique gifts and talents.
- We begin by serving individuals and then choose to lead by serving groups.
