The
servantleadership.org model for servant leadership is based on the assumption
that human resource development is the one variable in an organization that
makes the greatest difference in the advancement of the mission of that organization.
Servant leadership works by placing value on human beings. By empowering individuals
to use their talents and meet their needs there is an increase in effectiveness
and productivity.
The benefit of using a model to guide you and your organization on your journey to being a servant leader is that it allows you to examine complex situations and to modify one component at a time as you assess the impact of these modifications. The SL/org model of servant leadership consists of five components:
- Defining the results you wish to accomplish,
- Clarifying the values, beliefs, and assumptions that guide your decision making.
- Identifying the activities and processes that you use to accomplish your desired results.
- Using the learning cycle to change one’s servant leadership behaviors.
- Focusing on developing and using your skills as a servant leader.

- Provide servant leadership skill development materials in the form of courses, workbooks, modules, and articles in both print and electronic modes.
- Provide servant leadership skill development training and consulting for individuals, groups, and organizations.
